§ 118- §119. The action of every medicine differs from that of

every other. Note - There can be no such things as surrogates.

 

§ 118

 

Every medicine exhibits peculiar actions on the human frame, which are not produced in exactly the same manner by any other medicinal substance of a different kind-97.

 

Foot Note-97:  This fact was also perceived by the estimable A.V. Haller, who says (Preface to his Hist. stirp. helv.): Latet immensa virium diversitas in iis ipsis plantis, quarum facies externas dudum novimus, animas quasi et quodcunque caelestius habent, nondum perspeximus. [A great diversity of strength lies hidden in these plants themselves, whose external features we have long known but whose souls, as it were, and whatever divine element they have, we have not yet perceived.]

 

§ 118- §119. ஒவ்வொரு மருந்தின் செயலும்  ஒவ்வொரு மற்ற மருந்தின் செயல்களிருந்து வேறுபடுகின்றன. குறிப்பு - பதிலியாக  அல்லது ஒன்றுக்கு மாற்றாக  இருக்கும் பொருளாக  எதுவும் இருக்க முடியாது.

ஒவ்வொரு மருந்தும் மனித உடலின்  மீது விசித்திரமான செயல்களை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றன, ஒரு மருந்தின் செயல்பாட்டை போன்று  அதே முறையில்   வேறு வகையான மருந்து மூலப்பொருளால் -97 ஏற்படுத்த முடிவதில்லை.

இந்த உண்மையை மதிப்பிற்குரிய  ஏ.வி. ஹாலர் (A.V. Haller, 1708-1777, Swiss anatomist) அவர்களும் புரிந்து கொண்டுள்ளார் , அவர் இவ்வாறு  கூறுகிறார்  (Preface to his Hist. stirp. helv.) : இந்த தாவரங்களுக்குள்ளே மிகச்சிறந்த பன்முகத்தன்மை கொண்ட ஆற்றல்கள் புதைந்து கிடக்கின்றன , அவற்றின் வெளிப்புற வடிவங்களை பற்றி மட்டுமே நமக்கு  நீண்ட காலமாக தெரியும்  ஆனால் அத்தாவரங்களின் உயிர்க்கூறுகள் (அல்லது உயிர்நிலை)  , அது போலவே, மற்றும் அவை பெற்றுள்ள ஆற்றல்வாய்ந்த  மூலக்கூறுகள் பற்றி நாம்  இன்னும் புரிந்து கொள்ளவும் இல்லை.
