The second point of the business of a true physician related to acquiring a knowledge of the instruments intended for the cure of the natural diseases, investigating the pathogenetic power of the medicines, in order, when called on to cure, to be able to select from among them one, from the list of whose symptoms an artificial disease may be constructed, as similar as possible to the totality of the principal symptoms of the natural disease sought to be cured.

ஒரு உண்மையான மருத்துவரின் தொழில்முறையான  இரண்டாவது பணியாக இருப்பது  யாதெனில்  இயற்கையான நோய்களை நலப்படுத்துவதற்கான கருவிகளாக ( மருந்துகள்) உள்ளவை  பற்றிய அறிவைப் பெறுதல், மருந்துகளின் நோயுண்டாக்கும் ஆற்றலை ஆராய்வது  ஆகும்,  முறைப்படி , நோயை நலப்படுத்துவதற்கு அவர்  அழைக்கப்படும்போது,  அறிகுறிகளின் அடிப்படையில் செயற்கையாக நோயை உருவாக்கும் பட்டியலிலிருந்து , நலமாக்கப்படவேண்டிய இயற்கையான நோயின் ஒட்டுமொத்தமான  முக்கிய அறிகுறிகளுக்கு  முடிந்தவரை ஒத்திருக்கிற ஒரு மருந்தை தேர்ந்தெடுக்க இயலும்.
